- The standard second is the duration of 9 192 631 770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the cesium 133 atom. So I will be 18 385 263 540 000 000 000 cesium 133 atom oscillations old. Except that the first caesium clock was built by Louis Essen in 1955 at the National Physical Laboratory in the UK, so no cesium atoms have oscillated in any known clock as long as I have oscillated around the Sun.
