This book was written and published before Trump II. I did not read much of it. I share some of McQuade's resentment of uncivilized discourse, but her prescriptions (in the last chapters of the book) are national/political, powers that are currently controlled by Trump and Republicans. Perhaps in 2025 McQuade worries that her prescriptions will be used against her. | This book was written and published before Trump II. I did not read much of it. I was hoping for "retail/personal" prescriptions ... how to effectively speak truth to power one-on-one, fostering small amounts of communication, cooperation and calm, and strengthening bonds over time. Perhaps that is in the book as well, but I do not have time for 384 pages of what she wrote. I did NOT take the time to trace references to possibly more useful-to-me writing. | I was hoping for "retail/personal" prescriptions ... how to effectively speak truth to power one-on-one, fostering small amounts of communication, cooperation and calm, then strengthening bonds over time.
