Too discursive and date-oriented than I'd like - cultural archeology more than development of conceptual process.
The technical notes in the back of the book are worth reading, especially the geometric proofs. Angular sizing of astronomical objects was poor and exaggerated; apparently nobody thought to build a sun projector, which would have yielded an accurate Sun diameter angle and (extrapolating from solar eclipses) Moon diameter. With the moon as an angular yardstick, astronomers could calibrate the sky.
