Cathy Lofstrom was born in Glendale, Arizona in 1921, and grew up in Childress, Texas. Her mother was Ollie Lee Shoemaker (1895-1928), and her father was Hardy Cecil Jarrell (1894-1958). Cathy's mother died when she was 7, and Hardy remarried the widow Eula Stanford Cope in 1933. Cathy had 2 sisters, 1 half-sister, 2 step-sisters, and 1 step-brother: James Cope (1923-1970) ,HelenRay (1925-2010), EvelynSpeed (1929- ), JoanWyatt (1934- ), LonnieWard (1923-2007 ), EdwinaHenderson (1925- ).
Cathy completed one year of college at West Texas University in Amarillo. During World War II, she worked at Douglas Aircraft in Los Angeles.
In December 1946, she married HubertWilliamLofstrom (1919-1980) of Portland Oregon, and moved to Oregon. Herb worked as an independent architectural designer, and Cathy worked as a bookkeeper, for Bart's Restaurant in Portland, and then Oregon Manufacturing (Mang Rototillers) of Beaverton.
Cathy and Herb lived in the Cedar Hills suburb north of Beaverton, at 3445 southwest Bedford, later 3445 sw 123rd. They had 3 children, Karen Lofstrom (1947- ), Keith Lofstrom (1953- ), and Lori Lofstrom (1954- ).
Cathy and Herb divorced in 1963. Cathy briefly remarried to Gunter Dorlig of Altadena, California in 1965, then left for Oregon again.
Cathy worked for rest of her career as a bookkeeper at Beaverton Public Schools. She purchased a condo in Westbrook at 4824 sw Wembley Place, where she lived until 2002.
Cathy survived a heart attack in 1990, but developed stage 4 congestive heart failure. As she passed her 81st birthday, she needed increasing care, and moved to ChristianaAdultFosterCare.
Cathy died peacefully in bed on December 29, 2004. Her memorial service was at Cedar Hills United Church of Christ on January 15, 2005. Her cremated remains were scattered in ??? Park and the garden at Christiana Foster Care.
